I don't have the test results from yesterday's chest x-ray or echo-cardiogram. I was hoping to get a call today from the internist because the fluid pill don't seem to be working at all.
I did get a call from my oncologist today. He wanted me to know that Friday's lab results showed an elevation in one of the levels but he doesn't know what that means. I told him what has transpired since Friday with my shortness of breath and legs/feet swelling. He was very concerned about a blood clot and said that he wanted me to have a CT scan that his office would set up. Within the half hour, his nurse called and said that she had a CT scan set up for me "now" at my local hospital. It worked out perfectly because my husband was on his way home from work due to shortened hours.
After getting home from having the scan done, the oncologist's office called with the results. The physician's assistant said that there was no evidence of a blood clot (thank you God). There was, however, a SIGNIFICANT amount of fluid around each lung, with the left being the worst. He said that it's pressing against my diaphragm and liver. Tomorrow I will go to Winchester Hospital to have fluid drained off of my left lung. I'll then go for chemo on Friday, at which time the PA will determine if I need to have the fluid drained off the right lung. The fluid will be sent off to be analyzed.
I'm begging EVERYONE to please pray hard for me that this fluid around my lungs is a result of the surgery. PLEASE pray for me.

Sharon -
There's no need to ask for prayers from me. You have a very special place at the top of my daily list. However, I'll put a star by your name to make it extra, extra special!
I'm happy to see that your doctors are listening to you and putting YOU at the top of their list. I'm sad, though, to see that another hurdle has been placed in front of you on your road to recovery. You have been through so very much - just doesn't seem fair. We must remember though that God has a plan, and while we may certainly question his sanity and his thinking, we need to keep in mind that He never gives us more than we can handle (I must admit, I sometimes feel that God needs to have his "burdens" weight scale calibrated, as it sometimes seems a little off, as it does in your case - you've been given far more than your share of burdens). You've been dealt so many blows (far more than most of us could handle, including myself), and you get right back up and keep going. There's no way you could have made it through all the challenges you've faced so far without a loving, caring God who is on your side. He has seen you through the good times and bad times since April (and even before then), and He is going to see you through the good times and bad times for the next 50 years!
I'm feeling like it's time for me to schedule another trip, as I'm sensing there's some excess baggage that you could do without . . .
In closing, I'm reminded of that saying - "Before you go to bed at night, give your troubles to God. He's up all night anyway."
Lots of love, prayers and pinky hugs,
Kelli (one of your many CEO's - Chief Encouragement Officer)

I hope you are better soon! I am doing good in speech. I can not wait for when you are back at school! I miss you.

Heavenly Father, You have heard the cry of your beloved Sharon...now so have many others. In this very moment, please be merciful unto her and fill her with your grace. May she feel your spirit at every moment of the day and of the night. May a calmness come over her that her anxieties might dissolve. Fill her with your love and take away her fears. As she continues to fight this battle and trudges along on this journey, may she feel your loving embrace as you continue to carry her and lighten her burden. In her dismay of things seeming to go wrong, help her regain her absolute trust in You. While things seem out of control gently remind her to give thanks to You. For we know you do not make bad things happen, but through your mighty power, you take the darkest moments and times of our lives and create amazing opportunities...MIRACLES....
Lord, I have been asking for a miracle for my friend Sharon, and now I ask for another. I pray that the fluid be found to be a direct result of the surgery and that there be no residual issues. I ask for the fluid to be removed quickly and easily so that Sharon can breathe more comfortably. I ask that the results of the scan be negative so that treatment can move forward. I ask for all these miracles Lord, because I also know that miracles don't happen if one doesn't ask for them....so I'm asking...again Lord. Please make my friend cancer free.....
What a beautiful prayer offered up for Sharon. Amen.
You are always in my prayers and daily thoughts. I will double pray!!
Keep positive thoughts. All our love from Baltimore.
I am touched by the love being poured out your way! God is sending you strength through all the people around you. Know that you name comes up at school every single day - many, many times a day by many different people - young and well... not so young. ;) Your name is lifted in prayer every single day at school AND in many homes every evening. If God really did have an email inbox (like in the movie Bruce Almighty I think it is), then I think many of his subject headers would read exactly what that beautiful prayer mentioned - "Please make our friend cancer free". Now, we'll tag on to that - keep her healthy and strong so she can fight!
Sending you much love...
Rosemary
Dear Sharon,
You are so completely loved. It would be a mob if all of your "cheerleaders" attempted to surround you!
I'm praying for you to receive clarity and direction regarding the fluid around your lungs. Let there be relief and restoration within your body. Lord, thank you for being an anchor for Sharon and Butch. Please continue to hold them tight through this storm.
(Hebrews 6:19 "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.")
Thinking of you,
Darla
We all agree 100% with Kelli. All our Thoughts and Prayers are with you and your Family during this difficult time.
