More Visitors!

Sharon has had another very busy day full of loving visitors. Her long time friends Nancy, Tommy and their son Russell arrived this morning and she was so happy to see them as was Butch, Brad and Gregory. Sharon also had another large group of caring colleagues/friends that made the drive to see her. We're pretty sure that between yesterday and today, her enitre school family has been to see her.  That's so awesome and we are all so thankful for their support and love for Sharon. Thoughout the day Sharon had a steady stream of visitors, she has been so happy to see each and every one of them and we can tell with every familiar smiling face she sees, it brightens her mood. She's been getting lots of rest in between visitors and when Butch, Brad, Gregory, Loren and I left her this evening to get rest of our own, she was getting ready to have another slumber party with Colleen, her niece Shanay, and Nancy.

I'll try to give another update tomorrow evening. I do know that Sharon is hearing comments that are left for her.  Her brother Danny read her my last two blog posts and she smiled and was happy to know that 'Team Sharon' is still checking for any and all updates! Oh, and Butch brought her an enormous pile of birthday and well wishes cards today, it was so awesome to see.  Her room is filling with so many thoughtful gifts and kind words, its just spectacular!

Happy Belated Birthday Sharon. I miss you and all of your advice. Even though I am not at Catoctin, I think of you often. Smile, my friend because you are so loved.

Sharon -

Remember when, just a few short months ago, we miraculously found ourselves in Virginia Beach at the same time? And remember how we sat on the boardwalk at 11:00 that night talking and holding hands? Well I must admit - as you sat in your hospital bed today, after everything that you have been through since May, I am confident that you held my hand with much more strength and vigor than you did back in May as we sat on the boardwalk. You are such a fighter, and are so much stronger than you know.

It came as no surprise that one of the first things that you asked Brenda and I about today was our kids. Yep, that's the Sharon Funk that we all know and love - always putting others first, no matter the situation, and deeply caring from the bottom of her heart.

Brenda and I are planning on coming to visit you at home next week. I'm looking forward to seeing your beautiful yard, and that really awesome heritage room that you have set up, but most importantly, I'm looking forward to spending more time with the strongest, most courageous, person that I have ever met . . the one that has made such a difference in the lives of my boys and the lives of so many others, the one who has taught me so much about faith, hope and courage, and the one that I truly have the privilege of calling "my friend".

Keep fighting, my friend, and I'll keep praying!

Val - you have a beautiful way with words, just as Sharon does. Thank you for your diligence in updating Sharon's blog, and helping us to stay connected to this family that means so much to so many.

Love,
Kelli

Sharon: It was so great to see you the other day. You are such a kind, loving and caring person and I am blessed to be able to call you my friend. Not a day goes by when I don't think of you and pray for you. You are an inspiration. Love, Judy R.

Dear Sharon,

I'm praying for the peace of Jesus to fill you and surround you. May your precious family know that they are loved and held up in prayer, also.

Sincerely,
Darla
